"Well, you should know that this is gonna be a tough comic to find since there were only about 350 of these babies printed, but you can read nearly the entire comic on-line (see the end of thisreview). This comic is acompilation ofstories centered on a young boy that grew up in the country with his parents – and a group of harmless but certifiably crazy people. And the best part about it is that it’s 100% true (ok, 2 panels are fiction – but I’ll leave it up to you to find them). So what might it be like growing up in a nuthouse? Read on and find out.

What you should know :

"This is Rich Henn ‘s second work that he’s put out there, and I think it’s one that will eventually have all of us remembering his name. ZOOMIES is a collection of short stories about a young Rich and what it was like for him growing up in quite an unusual environment. It is a very personal story that at the same time has a good amount of humor and tragedy.

"Within the first few panels we get to learn everything we need to know about how and why Rich’s family started taking on the “Zoomies” (as he affectionately calls them) into their home. The Zoomies are people that were in a mental institution, but now live with his family on the farm and help out with the chores. Each of them has their own personal quirks and idiosyncrasies that make them stand out from each other, and this provides for some entertaining reading.

"Slowly we get introduced to all of the Zoomies and eventually we see how they interact with each other and the family. There is not one but a few short stories told from Rich’s perspective. Each of them are one or two pages long and only the “Pop Tart” tale lasts much longer, and leaves you with a cliffhanger. I wish that the book was longer and that there were more stories, but I suppose it’s a sign of a good comic when you want more of it after you’re finished reading it."
